I am a magician and will be using Celtx to script my effects. In my search for info on scripting, I found Celtx. This is all new to me but the reviews I read were favorable. This tool can only make me a better performer.
Thanks

I've just discovered it and I must say it's really helpful and it's so easy to keep everything under control. So now I use it to prepare all the background (characters' descriptions, script, storyboards, walk through) for the computer game I'm currently developing.

I discovered it less than a year ago...through a google search for "screenwriting software". I mostly use it to write whatever I want to.

In other words, short films and miniseries.

Short fiction and novels

Postby nadinbrzezinski » Thu Jan 29, 2009 6:35 pm

Heard of it while doing a google search

Tried it once and didn't like it. Then on a whim tried it again, and found the power under the screenplays... not the text files

I am a glutton for punishment and need something that works across platforms

My only beef, I WISH it had a novel \ short fiction template... easy to work around that though

And I don't think that should be that hard to implement, but I'm not a programmer. My other wish I know is a pain... tracking changes

I love writing stories but dislike writing them in the traditional short story or novel format. I find that script-writing can portray my stories just as easily and can be adapted into any particular media of my choosing (or someone else's).

More specifically however, I use celtx mostly for writing video game-plots for the games I tend to produce down the road, and work on now. I have a programming friend who works with me. I supply the ideas and he has them come to life. We're currently working on our first full game.

I use Celtx for scriptwriting purposes. I have written two screenplays (not counting a practice script) using Final Draft, and while I find Final Draft an effective program, I'm beginning to get the hang of Celtx because it proves to be just as reliable, if not more reliable than Final Draft.
THIS IS NOT AN EXIT.

Hello Writers

Postby ghstwrtr » Tue Apr 07, 2009 11:49 pm

Hi I just downloaded Celtx. I used to use ScriptBuddy and I think I used Script2Screen once. I tried this because I liked the screenshots and all the features Celtx had to offer. Great Job advertising!
I would love to chat with other writers and maybe lend some tips or gain some tips. See you all at the typewriter (or the keyboard! lol)

Using Celtx:

Postby elielo » Sat Apr 11, 2009 5:32 pm

I've written 2 Scripts using this program. In 1.0, I was able to do a Production Schedule that was easy and informative. In 2.0, I have decided not to use the Production Schedule, since it does not allow me to adjust the TIME of DAY, when I want to shoot scenes from my scripts.

I heard about Celtx from a Budgeting Forum I am on.

As far as the Script is concerned this is a unique Program, and the Reports that are generated after the Script is finished, is quite helpful. Perhaps some day, The Page Number could be added to each Scene so that the Director and Producer and Writer, can go directly to a Specifc Page when working on Pre-Production.

Hi everybody!

This is my first post here. I just downloaded celtx today and have it up and running and I'm really impressed with it so far. I've been using Hollywood Screenplay by Ballistic computing for the past year or so, and think I'll probably ditch it because it doesn't offer an export option for PDF, and I see that the latest version of celtx has one in the Typeset function. I was able to import my script from a text format into celtx and then save it as a PDF so, Yay!!

Anyway, I'm going to be using celtx to write screenplays. I've written a few short faux news stories that became urban legends a few years ago, and I'm going to try to expand them into full-length screenplays and try to pitch them for sale...

Some of you might have seen this one before:

Now that I have a way to create a PDF file from my script, I'll post a link to the screenplay here if anybody's interested in reading it and commenting on it...

Cheers, and thanks to all the Celtx programmers who've worked to create what looks to me like a really wonderful program!!!

Hi, we are using CeltX to make cooperate possible among Director, Projectmanagement and external Suppliers.

We use also the points as follows:

1. we import the story as text
2. we create the scenes
3. we adapt it to storyboard and attach the images to the scenes
4. we create the plan for the shoting
5. we organise the shots with CeltX

We should additionally need:

- a modul for budgeting to calculate the fix and the variable costs of a projekt.

Regards,

I.

Using Celtx:

Postby elielo » Thu Apr 30, 2009 4:49 am

It is true that Celtx has a number of ways to work with the Script. These are quite valuable, and helpful, but not all of us use every aspect related to creation of a Story.

In a way, it becomes a problem because the Program suggests that one should use, Production Schedules, Story Boards, Index Cards, etc.

The reason for writing a Screenplay, is to be able to tell a Story about Someone or Something to an Audience of Young People to Seasoned Citizens who enjoy going to Movies.

Putting together a Production Schedule In My Humble Opinion is the duty of an UPM, Line Producer, or 1st AD. If one is unfamiliar with these duties, it can become an emotional and mental challenge.

Well I heard about Celtx working on a production from someone on the Crew. I looked into because though I hope to be a director, I have been interested in making a film and to make a film, well you need a script. So I downloaded it and loved it. I told my friend about it, and she used it to write the script we will hopefully be turning into a film soon.
I am using it at the moment (like literally NOW haha) to edit the script she wrote and seriously, I think Celtx is brilliant. It's so easy and free.
Thank you Celtx :)
