iphone trouble with celtx

Postby mogen1119 » Sun Mar 04, 2012 2:28 am

I have a Iphone app for celtx< been using the desk top version for years and the app for almost a year. I'm not the happiest with the new up date using the cloud, but that's no why I'm posting , the problem I'm having is with the app it's self now that its been updated, it opens fine syncs with the cloud fine, the problem is that if I go to write it glitches up. like if i have three pages written I click on the bottom line and lets say it was a character so I hit enter to drop it down to the dialog well instead of just dropping down it jumps up to like the middle of the of the script the curser doesn't show up tho I can still type nothing that I type shows up even if you scroll. you have to back all the way out to the main screen then load it up its there but if i try to type it'll do the whole hidden jump glitch thing all over again.

I don't know if any one else has this problem, I've closed and reopened the app and restarted my phone even started a new doc
also my phone is a 3g iphone and its at version 4.2.1(8c148)

I hope you can help me out cause its putting a damper in my writing witch i do mainly away from home, or at the very least help me un-update if that is possible

thank you for your time, Mark G.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the info. I've yet to experience this issue on my iPhone. Can you outline the steps to replicate this issue?

Was the script created on the phone or was it created on the desktop? What document type is it, is it a screenplay or another?

Thanks,

Steve Pick

I have a similar problem.
I open a script on my iPhone 3g and begin editing, but when I press enter the cursor goes to the next line, and all of the text below completely disappears. If I go back to the main screen then into the script it is back to normal, with the small modification made. it is quite frustrating as I cannot really do any editing at all. This happens every time I press enter in an existing script.

Is this something you are aware of?

It's not something that I have experienced on my iPhone or iPad. Are you using the latest version of Celtx Script?

As far as I am aware it is the latest version of the Celtx app. I just tried to update it and there is nothing newer.

I also forgot to mention when I do press enter it pops back up to the top of the script. I have to scroll back down to my last position to discover the bottom part of my script is invisible. However, even if I undo my last action the text doesn't come back. I HAVE to back out of the script and then go back in to make the text reappear.

Very strange.

Again, this is an Iphone 3g with OS 4.2.1. Most recent of Celtx Script is installed.

Are there any iOS updates available for your phone?

iOS 4.2.1 is the latest update available to the 3g.

Do you roughly know how many pages your script is?

Are you working in 'wrap to screen' or paginated mode?

Thanks,

Steve

It is on Paginate, but just tested in wrap mode and it does the exact same thing. Also, in wrap mode it is incredibly sluggish overall.

Script is apx. 45 pages

Not yet. Waiting for a dev to bring a 3G phone into the office.

Do you experience this behaviour with a new script? How about the Oz sample script?

Yes, it happens with ANY document.

Thanks for looking into it for me!

Was this problem ever solved? I'm experiencing the same issue. I've just installed Celtx Script 2.2.3 on my iPhone 3G, running iOS 4.1. I keep running into the same glitch whenever I try to write something - the line I'm currently typing keeps jumping all over the place making it impossible for me to work. Sometimes it will jump above the previous line, sometimes to the top of the page, sometimes off the viewable page entirely so I can't see what I'm typing at all. Sometimes it will overlay a previous line so it's completely unreadable. Sometimes it will jump back and forth between the top of the page and where it should be. It doesn't return to its correct position at the bottom of the page until I've hit return or exited the script and reopened it. It doesn't matter whether I'm in landscape or portrait mode, US Letter or A4, have parchment background/wrap to screen on or off and it's the same in all script formats. Very frustrating.
