Grrr. The "security team" at my office has blocked downloads from the "megauploads" site. Any way someone could do me a huge favor put a copy of the installer somewhere else and point me towards it?

Hey Steve,

thanks for putting it on celtx server. I always dreaded putting it on megaupload or rapidshare coz I knew most of the company denied access to storage sites but since there wasnt any option so I had to upload it on megaupload.

is it possible that from next time onwards whenever new public build of portable celtx is released you can host it on celtx?

thanks,

sachin

it's not working

Postby dchadwick » Mon Dec 04, 2006 10:09 pm

OK -- this is probably something basic, but at the moment, it's eluding me:

when I unzipped the file above, I got a folder containing about 200 various files. Unlike my previous Celtx installation, there are no sub-folders labelled "chrome", "components", "extensions", etc. Just a flat list of lots and lots of files.

I tried opening "PortableCeltx.exe", but it yielded the error "celtx.exe was not found. Please check your configuration".

There is in fact a file called "celtx.exe", but when I clicked on that, it would not open at all -- it just put up an hourglass icon for a few seconds and then went away.

I also noticed OS X -style ".DS Store" files in there, which was kind of confusing.

thanks,
Damian

Hi Damian,

I just replaced the zip file on our server. The .DS shouldn't cause any issue, it was included because I zipped the folder from my desktop since Safari decided to unzip it for me.

Either way, it's replaced. Give it a whirl and see if it's any different for you.

Cheers,

Steve

??
Downloaded the .zip file again, still seeing the same thing -- a flat list of files, and the Celtx.exe in it doesn't launch. It doesn't much look like my regular old Celtx folder, which was organized into sub-folders.

I'm using Win-Zip to open this archive. Could that be part of the problem?

Hi chad,

please try using 7z. I am not sure if it is winzip cause older versions of winzip use to by default extract files in a single folder without maintaining any folder structure or may be u might have setup ur winzip/winrar like that.
see if setting is different coz I am 99.99% sure its problem with your archiving software.

FYI 7z is available at 7-zip.org This is the software I use to create archive which I uploaded.

cheers,

That did the trick. There's even a portable version of 7-Zip here:

celtx.exe - Unable To Locate Component

Postby zeller » Wed Dec 20, 2006 4:49 pm

This application has failed to start because MSVCR71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

This is the dialogue box I continually run into when trying to run the portable celtx from my flash drive. Furthermore, I even used 7-zip to unzip the files. Solution?

Hey Zeller,

Google 'MSVCR71.dll'. Choose one of the sites, download and installt the missing Windows file. Celtx should run after that.

I have downloaded the file and put it in the directory I assume it should go into in order for the portable to work. Same trouble. Is there a configuration file of some kind telling the portable to look in the windows system directory? If so, can it be changed to tell the portable to look on my removable drive for the file, which is where I installed it.

Thanks steve.

The .dll is an OS file. It needs to go in the appropriate Windows directory. This issue has come up before.

Hmm. Followed the instructions given, installing it in my system32 folder. No dice.
