Icelandic fonts do not appear in Celtx

Postby sigurgeirorri » Fri Jan 30, 2009 12:39 am

What kind of Courier is Celtx using? Icelandic fonts (3 of them) do not appear in the application even though the computer is in Icelandic.

I find this rather strange, the Icelandic fonts left me when I upgraded my laptop to MacBook Air.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

If I take the courier font out of the system, the application automatically picks helvetica and the Icelandic fonts appear. I might be able to live with that, but screenplays are written in Courier and not Helvetica.

Further developments

If I throw out the courier font Celtx opens the file in helvetica. But the text tab stops displaying Icelandic fonts. No matter what font.

Other machines have no problems opening the Icelandic fonts.

What could possibly be the problem? Does anyone have a clue to what it may be?

Probably a bug

I asked my friend, who is running the same system on his computer as I am, to download Celtx and check if Icelandic specific fonts would appear. They did. No problem.

What can it possibly be in my computer that does this? The computer was bought in August 2008 and has all the latest system software from Apple. I didn't use Celtx on the computer until now. That's why I didn't notice the problem earlier.

This is a puzzle. I'm sure sombody at Celtx has been dealing with this, for there are many languages in the world that use specific charcters.

I thought by upgrading my computer I would be at lesser risk for having problems, but apparently it is not so. The reason why I stopped using Final Draft was because it used outdated fonts and wouldn't display Icelandic. Now I'm having the same problem with Celtx. Maybe I should give Final Draft a second chance.

Fonts problems are nothing new for Mac users in Iceland, but in recent years it has only been Microsoft applications and now Celtx.
