What is the point of saying your software is free when I have to pay to use anything useful? i.e. Exporting to PDF now costs 5 bucks a month?

Is this because the economy sucks? Or what? I used Celtx because it was a free alternative to overpriced industry software. But now I have to pay for something that once was free... It's like Santa taking away all your Christmas presents the following year...

So very disappointed.

Exporting to PDF does not cost anything.

The $5/mo plan is only for advanced collaboration features such as version control and project sharing.

All the basic features of Celtx are free. To typset just click the "Typset" button and select "Export to PDF" from the format toolbar.

You can also still access and upload projects to Project Central at pc.celtx.com, just not directly through the software.

If you have any more questions, let me know!

Can't save PDF

Postby Spike27 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 4:16 pm

Ntay -

It doesn't seem possible to access the TypeSet option now. It requires a sign in. I sign in and it says my celtx studio subscription (that i never had) has expired. So now I need to get one (costing money) to save as a PDF.

How can this be done without paying?

Cheers in advance,
SPike27

I am not prompted to login to use TypeSet.

Just to clarify, you're using Celtx 2.0.2, working in a screenplay, and clicking the TypeSet tab in the screenplay window and are being prompted to login?

You shouldn't even need an account to TypeSet let alone a paid one.

This is the message folks are seeing at the moment:

Oops!

You need to be online to use this advanced feature.

Secure and private, this advanced Celtx web service automatically formats your script to an industry standard Screenplay, Stageplay, Audio Play or Dual Column (AV).

As stated in your other post, we are currently experiencing a TypeSet issue. But no where in the above message does it state you need to be logged in.

We're investigating the issue and I will post more when I know what's up.
