Hi,
In my scriptwriting class at university I am one of a couple who use celtx (and love it!). However, my breif is for a 30 page script and I have been told to alter my font size up by my tutor as it is smaller than all her other scripts... does anybody know how to do this or a way round this? Copying into word just seems to mess it all up... :? |

Hi barneyclyro,
Currently there is no way to change the font size in the script output.
Celtx used the industry standard which is 12pt courier.
Have you tried exporting your script as text and then importing that into Word or some other word processor?
Cheers,
Steve Pick

Hey Spick,
When I print it it appears to be smaller than 12 pt courier but that could just be my eyes...! For example when shown against other script examples I have in my class it is in fact smaller, could this be the pdf export by any chance??
Copy and pasting to word is one viable solution, however due to the formatting of celtx I have to delete several free lines and format it to make it look neat and professional as it does in Celtx, which is time consuming. Especially considering I am working to a spec of 30 pages and will be needing to add/delete x amount of words to fit to that tight brief!
Is there an update for Celtx planned as far as you know? And if so would it include text size alterations? |

The format is set to the Nicholls Fellowship standard. I don't expect that the Celtx team will be making any changes in the near future. _________________

| Check your settings when you print. Many times when you print a pdf it prints a around 90% (I've never looked into why, but I see it all the time). It should be under page scaling or something to that effect. |

Not to be snarky.
But if you are asked to write a "30-page script" shouldn't you do so?
Clearly, your professor meant for you to follow script formatting standards, which include font type and size.
Which doesn't answer your actual question of "CAN the font be changed?" and not "SHOULD I change the font?"
If your printed pages have letters printed smaller than other students' letters, there may be something going on with your printer. |

Thanks Mjolniir, I think it must be the pdf export that alters the size, about 10% smaller or so seems correct in comparison to other peoples work (who are using Word).
Fraser, it's a 30 minute script which means around 30 pages. 30 pages is the guideline, it can be between 26 and 33 but one page (generally speaking) translates to one minute of screen time. I doubt it's the printer itself, more likely the celtx or pdf settings. I don't quite understand what your trying to help me with (if you are trying to help?) Nevermind though, thanks for your input..
I'll fiddle with/google pdf print settings and see what comes up. Thanks guys. |

Okay I found my problem. It was under page scaling in the pdf print settings. Change from the default 'Reduce Printer Margins' to 'None'. Mjolniir, you were right, it default scales it to 94% for some reason. Kudos to you.
Thanks everyone. |

Hi!
Please, help me to find a way to change the output font in Celtx 2.0.2 running under Mac OS. I use Mac OS 10.6.1
The trouble is that I am using Russian version of Celtx and writing screenplays in Russian, but Courier font does not support Russian charset. I want to change Courier to Courier New.
Or maybe it is possible that you will make this changes in further versions of your really great software.
Thank you! |
