Reading the linked tumblr post above I feel very positive! I'm looking forward to the new and improved application and services.

I currently hold a Studios-account with a handful of projects, so of course I am interested in any and all additional details, such as the roadmap of the Celtx Services (when will the "comparable offerings added to Celtx Services." arrive to the scene?). Yes, date estimates are good 8)

And eventually it will be very important to understand what the migration path(s) to the new Celtx Services are. Personally I'd prefer if the following option is made available:
"Click here to import your Celtx Studios account into a New or Existing Celtx Services account"

But first things first. Now I shall prepare myself for the imminent release :D

Hey Daniel

Yup, the plan is to eventually get to a point where the new Services offering is a one for one to the Studios feature set. Timing wise, well... this involves the development of software, which is inherently difficult to gauge. But we do hope to get there before the Fall. And yes, the plan also calls for a migration tool to make the switch easy.

Meanwhile, the new desktop software (v.2.9.5) supports both the Studios and the new Services (you'll see a new drop down option in the dialogs for saving to the Cloud - these let you switch between the Studios and the Services). This will let you open a Project from your Studio and then save it back to Services (with an in between Save as... to create a local save before saving to Services).

Hope this helps!

This piece of info helps. Now I just eagerly have to wait for the releases. My pet peeve is the collaboration part, where I have heard improvements are coming up!

I was just browsing the new celtx.com, but I can't find source and in particular the release notes for v2.9.5?

Hi Daniel

The source code and release notes will get posted on Monday. In our excitement to get the new tech released, this one slipped down the list. Hope this is OK.

By the way, we changed the license for the desktop to the MPL (Mozilla Public License), so it is now tripled licensed - MPL/GPL/LGPL

This makes Celtx fully complaint for Linux distros.

OK, will have a look again on Monday!

Oh, speaking of the MPL: On the list of nitty-gritty-little-things-to-fix-one-day, I found the MPL license notice in the Windows version contain an erroneous/invalid character between "Mozilla Public License" and "Version 2.0".

(Also a couple of them at the end of the terms.)

Haven't come around to install 2.9.5 on my Mac or Linux boxen yet, so I can't say how it looks there.

Yup, caught that glitch. The Mac install uses a rtf Read Me file, same thing that Firefox employs. Something to do with the clickwrap getting deprecated...

Perhaps you meant "next" Monday?

Today (Wednesday) I made an effort to search the entire Celtx.com site for release notes and sources, but to no avail. Hey, I even read the page with the terms for using the Celtx Logo in full! 8)

So here's a friendly reminder.

Cheers

We're working on some bugs that we need to have resolved before we can release the source. It will likely be later today or tomorrow.

I just want to say how much I appreciate what you guys are doing. Celtx really is an essential asset to zero-budget filmmakers like myself and aspiring writers that may not be old enough to shell out the cash for a paid software. I try to keep my studio whenever I can afford to because I feel bad for using this software for free when you guys put so much work into it.
Anyway, keep up the fantastic work.

HI Daniel,

The source is now available though not yet linked on our site. I'm hoping the release notes and link will be up a little later today.

And the release notes are posted.

Cheers,

Steve

Thank you!

I did hope for more minor fixes and improvements, but this is all good stuff so I will not be the one to complain. :)

Me again, on the subject of updating the Celtx site.

Currently some Studio users appears to feel ripped off or glad to learn that the Studio services are now basically offered for free, based on some posts on this board. (Half full/empty cup, anyone?)

In any case I advise you to update the studio page with current info, in particular about your new service offering and how to migrate: https://studio.celtx.com
