Teaser

Postby dgcuff » Wed May 24, 2006 10:12 pm

I like having my appetite whetted occasionally, but that was just pure tease.

Chances are excellent that you've done something well worth crowing about. You don't need us to coax you tell us. Take pride in what you've done, and tell us all about it.

...Explicitly. :)

Oh come now, just a having a bit of fun... :D

OK, explicitly, we've added an Outline tool and a mode for writing Plain Text documents, both of which are capable of handling Media. You will also be able to add multiple versions of a document to your Celtx Project - so for example, you can keep multiple versions of a script, or all the episodes of a series all in one place. And we added a standard folder system so you can keep it all organized. Did I already mention the ability to add external files?

Neat! I can't wait to try the outliner.

Though, at this point, my new script is a series of index cards strung together.

Hopefully one can change the font in these outlines? :)

Oh, can you send the localizers the work-in-progress localization files? Even if changes are still going to be made to the code, they probably won't be so extensive, and it will speed up the localization process remarkably ... Plus you could very easy check as part of your beta testing, if all strings are localizable ...

Looks sweet!

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out what the two buttons next to underline do, and that's scaring me. Icons should be bluntly obvious... perhaps its just a totally new feature we've never seen anywhere.

EDIT: Second glance (and a bit of Photoshopping) makes me think its a "caps" to "no-caps" button.

When I saw the blurry screencap I thought it converted your text to Cyrillic.

Having multiple versions is just rockin'! Well done.

Hi Comitar,

Yes, you are correct. Those buttons are for changing between "caps" and "no caps".

Cheers,

Want more..?

Ok, we've revised the Scene Details and Character forms and added new ones for Props, Locations, Wardrobe and Actor Profiles. We've also changed the way the forms get created.

We figured that people probably didn't need a Scene Details form for every single scene, or a Character form for every instance that a new Character name appears in the Script. And even if someone did need one for every scene and every character it should be up to them to decide if that's the case. So, we decided to let you - the User - decide when you want to create a form (The Three Little Buttons...).

Image

If you already have a Script in your project, you'll be able to associate a Scene Details to a specific Scene. Ditto for Characters. You'll also be able to use the "Pick List' option (visible in the sample Props form) to tag a form to a specific scene or character.

Oh, and as you can see you'll now be able to add any file of any type to your Celtx folder - PDFs, photoshop files, video edit clips, etc. etc. - which will open in the requisite application where it can be modified and saved back to the Celtx folder. So you can now use Celtx to keep track of every file related to your Project where they can be organized and shared with others to facilitate collaboration.

Did I already mention the in-line spell checking and streamlined editor? And the new *.celtx file extension?"

S'all good? Enjoy.

Awesome! Finally some news!

I see you incorporated the "tabs idea" suggestion in a brilliant way! Have you moved the schedule etc under "tools" or?

Keep up the good work. Can´t wait to try it out.

EDIT:
Is it going to be a 1.0 release?
